Who Are We?
AAHA Mentor is an online community that facilitates and supports one-on-one mentoring relationships. We connect individuals with capable and accomplished mentors ready to help them advance towards their personal and/or professional purpose. Our primary focus is on mentoring adult people of color in economically disadvantaged and under-served communities throughout the United States. These individuals generally have not had the benefit of access to mentors that are able to address their specific aspirations, abilities and needs for support. Every interaction with an AAHA Mentor is intended to advance the confidence, performance and results of the individual being mentored. Their advancement in turn strengthens and improves the communities in which they work and live.

AAHA Mentor FAQs
Why the name AAHA Mentor?
AAHA is an acronym for Aspiration, Ability, Humility and Action. These are the core attributes expected of our expert mentors and the mentees they support. You must aspire to achieve more than what you've already accomplished. You must have the ability needed to propel you towards your personal and/or professional purpose. You must have the humility required to engage in a meaningful, one-on-one mentoring relationship. You must be ready to take action and do the work required to get results.
Who should seek mentoring through AAHA Mentor?
AAHA mentees are primarily black adults, at least 21 years old living in economically disadvantaged and under-served communities in the U.S. Mentees must have that 'AAHA'. You must recognize the value of mentorship. You must be ready to seek and accept feedback from your mentor. You must be ready to take action and put in work for your development.
How much will I have to pay for AAHA mentoring?
Their is never a charge for mentoring. AAHA Mentors volunteer their time and expertise. AAHA Mentor is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization. Our work is funded solely through donations from corporations, institutions, foundations and individuals that value mentoring and support our mission.
Who are AAHA Mentors?
AAHA Mentors are recruited, carefully screened and selected by the organization. They are individuals with great accomplishments in their respective fields and a passion for mentoring. In many cases, our mentors have come from the same under-served communities of our mentees. In every case, they are skilled mentors with the utmost integrity.
How will I be matched with a mentor?
You first have to complete and submit the, 'I Need a Mentor' questionnaire. Once your questionnaire is submitted, our team goes to work to get your request matched to our mentors best suited to your individual needs. Mentors select who they will mentor based on their availability and who they believe they can help the most.
How can I become an AAHA Mentor?
While we proactively seek out and recruit our mentors, we always invite others to join us in our mission. To become a mentor, complete and submit the, 'I Want to be an AAHA Mentor' questionnaire. Once your questionnaire is submitted, we will contact you to discuss your background and mentoring goals. We look forward to having you join our group of expert mentors!
How will I meet and work with my mentor?
Once you have been matched with a mentor, you will be notified by email who will mentor you and when they are available to meet with you. As part of the connection, you will also receive detailed information regarding your mentor's background, credentials and accomplishments. After you select an available meeting time, you will receive an email confirmation. Mentoring sessions are conducted as remote (virtual) meetings.
How often can I expect to work with my mentor?
Each mentoring relationship is different. Once you are matched and connected with a mentor, you will work together to determine when you meet, how often and for how long you work together.
